Robert Hannigan is a leading authority on cyber security, cyber conflict and the application of technology in national security.

About

Robert Hannigan currently serves as Chairman of BlueVoyant International and was a Senior Adviser at McKinsey & Co. Until 2017, Hannigan was the Director of GCHQ, the UK’s largest intelligence and security agency and NSA equivalent. There he led the creation of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and oversaw the UK’s pioneering Active Cyber Defense Program.

During his 20-years of public service, Hannigan was Prime Minister’s Security Adviser and created the UK’s first cyber security strategy. Prior to that, he worked as principal adviser to Prime Minister Tony Blair on the Northern Ireland peace process. He was awarded the US Intelligence Distinguished Public Service Medal in 2017 and honored by Queen Elizabeth for services to UK national security in 2013.

Robert was elected Warden of Wadham College, Oxford University in 2021.

Hannigan was appointed a member of the CSA’s Operational Technology Cyber Security Expert Advisory Panel in 2021. The next Forum meeting takes place in Singapore 12-13 July 2022.


REVIEW of INDUSTRIAL IOT CYBER SECURITY

Prof Creese, Hannigan and Dr Kafaarani are currently conducting a Foresight Review for the Lloyd’s Register Foundation on Operational Cyber Security for the Industrial Internet of Things. Workshops are being held in Singapore, California and London and interventions are welcome from all interested parties. General Alexander, Hannigan, and Zafrir are acting as expert advisers to Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority’s Telecom Cybersecurity Strategic Committee.
